Every time you put a product/collection for sale, you want your customers to be able to see the original price, so that they know it’s on sale.
For your product to be displayed on sale in your online store, your product details must include both the sale price and the original price, called the compare at price.
Another way to offer customers reduced prices at checkout is by creating discount coupons.
This will not affect the displayed prices of your products.
How to put items for sale with different variant prices
For a product with variants whose prices differ, the lowest sale price is indicated.
Sale prices for single-variant products or products with identically prices variants
For a single-variant product, or a product whose variant prices are all identical, the original and sale prices are shown as a straight comparison.
How to set a compare at price
- From your Shopify admin, select Products.
- Choose the name of a product.
- In the Pricing section, set the Compare at price to the product’s original price:
- Set the Price of the product to your new sale price.
- Click on Save.
How to set a Compare at price on a variant:
- Choose a product from the Products page.
- Scroll down and go to the Variants section.
- Select a variant you want to put on sale, and click Edit.
- In the Pricing section, set the Compare at price field to the product’s original price.
- Set the Price of the product to your new sale price.
- Click on Save.
