You can use the Import feature on Shopify to import products from other platforms or to make changes to your products or inventory. Shopify converts the data from the CSV file to products while importing.

To import products from another platform to your Shopify store :
- Login to your Shopify admin panel, click on Products
- Click on Import
- Check if the e-commerce platform you wish to import from is available. Click on it’s icon and you will see the free importer from Shopify. You will find instructions on what to do on these pages itself.
- If you do not see the icon of your previous platform, click on Cancel
- If your previous platform provided you with a product CSV, compare it with this sample CSV from Shopify. This CSV format needs to match for Shopify to be able to import the products to your store successfully.
- Once your CSV file is ready, click on Choose file
- Click on Open – Upload file
Please ensure that the CSV file is lesser than 15MB.
Once the products are successfully imported, you will get a confirmation email from Shopify on your registered email address.
To import products after making changes to the CSV file :
In order to make changes to your products using a CSV, you will need to export products first.
You can do this using the following steps :
- Login to your Shopify admin panel – click on Products
- Click on Export
- You will receive the CSV file with the products details on your registered email address
- You can then make changes to your CSV file using Google Sheets or another spreadsheet program
- Once the changes are made, you will need to import your updated CSV to your Shopify store
- Click on Products – Import
- Click on Choose file under Import products by CSV file
- Locate your file, click on Open
- Click the Overwrite existing products that have the same handle checkbox to override any data that is on Shopify.
- Click on Upload file
Once the products are successfully imported, you will get a confirmation email from Shopify on your registered email address.
